Jōzai-ji (常在寺) is a Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple located in Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. It is renowned for its historical connections to the Saitō clan and its designated national Place of Scenic Beauty garden.
History and Significance: The temple was founded in 1387 by Saitō Myōchin, the father of the powerful Sengoku period daimyo Saitō Dōsan. Jōzai-ji served as the family temple for the Saitō clan. Saitō Dōsan, a prominent figure known for his cunning and ambition, is enshrined here, and his tomb is a significant historical site within the temple grounds. After Oda Nobunaga conquered Inabayama Castle (renaming it Gifu Castle) and made Gifu his base, he also visited Jōzai-ji, further cementing its historical importance.

Its most notable feature is its Japanese garden, which has been designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty (国指定名勝, Kuni Shitei Meishō) by the Japanese government.
