Isthaberg is a hill located in the state of Hesse, Germany. It rises to an elevation of approximately 523 meters (1,716 feet) above sea level. The hill is situated within the Habichtswald Nature Park, about 3 kilometers east-southeast of the town of Wolfhagen, directly north of the Wolfhagen district of Istha, from which it derives its name.
Geographically, the Isthaberg is a wooded basalt dome. To its north lie the villages of Philippinenburg and Philippinenthal (both part of Wolfhagen), and the small Lohbach stream flows past the hill's northern side as a tributary of the Erpe.
Historically, a beacon tower for aviation navigation was erected on the Isthaberg in 1934, which was later demolished about 20 years afterward. The remains of its foundation, sometimes referred to as the "Platte auf dem Isthaberg," are still visible today. The hill features hiking trails and a barbecue area, and is used for outdoor recreation such as hiking and cycling.
