Israel Esan Owolabi (born February 13, 1935) is a distinguished Nigerian academic, electrical engineer, and education administrator. He is widely recognized for his significant contributions to engineering education in Nigeria and for his tenure as the second Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin.
Early Life and Education
Israel Esan Owolabi was born in Igbeti, Oyo State, Nigeria. He received his early education in Nigeria before proceeding to higher studies. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University College Ibadan (now the University of Ibadan). Demonstrating an early aptitude for technical fields, he later pursued postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom, where he obtained a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Glasgow, Scotland.
