The Indiana Theatre is a historic performing arts venue located in Terre Haute, Indiana. Opened in 1922, it originally served as a grand movie palace showcasing silent films and vaudeville acts. Designed by the architectural firm of Miller & Yeager, the theatre boasts a lavish interior featuring ornate plasterwork, a grand lobby, and a seating capacity of over 1,700.
Over the years, the Indiana Theatre has undergone several renovations and changes in ownership. While it continued to operate as a movie theatre for many decades, it eventually fell into disrepair and faced the threat of demolition.
In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, a community-led effort successfully restored the theatre to its former glory. Today, the Indiana Theatre hosts a variety of events, including live concerts, theatrical productions, film screenings, and community gatherings.
