Indescribable (film)

Indescribable is a 2013 American Christian drama film produced by Thorncrown Project in association with Crystal Creek Media. The film was directed by Stacie Graber, who co‑wrote the screenplay with her husband Joseph Graber. Production took place during June and July 2011 in Bryan, Texas.

Plot

Set in Pasadena, California, in 1917, the story follows Blynn Lehman (Seth Pruski), one of nine children in a family confronting financial hardship amid World War I. Blynn’s older brother receives a draft notice, and his father, Pastor Frederick “Papa” Lehman (Rich Swingle), begins writing a hymn about God’s love but struggles to complete it. Determined to help his family, Blynn organizes his younger siblings in an effort to finish the song. Their attempts lead them to discover that a verse they need was originally composed by an ancient Jewish Rabbi living in Germany during the First Crusade. As the family learns of their eldest brother’s death in the war, Blynn ultimately understands the meaning of divine love.

Production

Indescribable was shot over 25 days with a crew of 49 and employed up to 60 extras. The production involved 44 speaking roles. Joseph J. Graber served as producer alongside Daniel Knudsen. Cinematography was handled by Timothy Jones and Ethan Ledden, while the musical score was composed by David W. Hamilton.

Release and Reception

The film was released directly to home video on April 6 2013 in the United States. It screened at the 2013 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival, where it was a finalist for Best Feature Film and runner‑up for Best Music Score.
