Ihor Nykyforuk

Ihor Dmytrovych Nykyforuk (born 21 December 1957) is a Ukrainian diplomat who served as the Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada from May 1999 to April 2004.

Biography and Career

Ihor Nykyforuk was born in Lviv, Ukrainian SSR, on 21 December 1957. He pursued a career in diplomacy, joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Prior to his ambassadorship, Nykyforuk held various positions within the Ukrainian diplomatic service, contributing to the development of Ukraine's foreign policy following its independence. His roles often involved bilateral relations and international cooperation.

On 13 May 1999, Nykyforuk was appointed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Canada. During his tenure, he played a significant role in strengthening the bilateral relations between Ukraine and Canada, a country with a large and influential Ukrainian diaspora. His diplomatic efforts focused on political, economic, and cultural cooperation, including trade agreements, cultural exchanges, and supporting Ukraine's democratic development and integration into international structures. He served in this capacity until 29 April 2004.

Following his return from Canada, Nykyforuk continued to be involved in diplomatic and foreign policy matters within Ukraine.
