Ian Gibson (footballer, born July 1956)

Ian Gibson (born July 25, 1956) is a Scottish former professional footballer. Gibson played as a midfielder and is best known for his time with Dundee United during a period of significant success for the club.

Gibson started his career with Partick Thistle before moving to Dundee United in 1976. He was a key member of the Dundee United team that won the Scottish Premier Division title in 1983. He also played in the UEFA Cup, including reaching the semi-finals in 1982.

After leaving Dundee United, Gibson played for several other clubs, including Coventry City, Leicester City and Barnsley. He finished his professional career in the early 1990s.
