The Ialoveni District (Romanian: Raionul Ialoveni) is an administrative territorial unit located in the central part of Moldova. Its administrative center is the city of Ialoveni.
Geography
Ialoveni District is situated in the central part of Moldova, bordering the Chișinău Municipality to the north, Strășeni District to the northwest, Hîncești District to the west, Căușeni District to the south, and Anenii Noi District to the east. The district covers an area of approximately 783 square kilometers.
The landscape is characterized by rolling hills and plains, typical of the Central Moldavian Plateau (Codri Plateau) in its western part, gradually flattening towards the east. The district is crossed by several small rivers and streams, including the Ișnovăț River, which flows through the capital city. According to the 2014 Moldovan Census, the population of Ialoveni District was 93,154. The population density is approximately 119 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The ethnic composition of the district is predominantly Moldovan/Romanian, with smaller communities of Ukrainians, Russians, Roma, and other ethnic groups. The official language is Romanian.
