The Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) is a public technical and research university located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is one of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), a group of autonomous institutes of higher education of national importance established by the Government of India.
History
IIT Indore was established in 2009 under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now the Ministry of Education) as part of an expansion of the IIT system. The institute began its academic operations in temporary facilities at the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), before moving to its permanent campus.
Campus
The permanent campus of IIT Indore is situated on a 524‑acre site on the outskirts of Indore, near the village of Khandwa.
