IC 1011 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Virgo. It has an apparent magnitude of 14.7, making it visible only with a telescope of substantial aperture (approximately 500 mm or 20 inches or more). Its redshift is measured at z = 0.02564 (per SIMBAD) or 0.025703 (per NASA), corresponding to a distance of roughly 100 to 120 megaparsecs (about 326 to 391 million light-years). Its light takes approximately 349.5 million years to reach Earth.
The galaxy has a morphological classification of Sb d (a type of barred spiral) and an apparent angular size of approximately 0.741 arcminutes by 0.427 arcminutes. Its calculated age is approximately 12.95 billion years.
The "IC" designation stands for the Index Catalogue, a supplement to the NGC (New General Catalogue) of nebulae, star clusters, and galaxies, compiled primarily by J. L. E. Dreyer.

Note: IC 1011 should not be confused with IC 1101, a much larger and more luminous supergiant lenticular galaxy also located in Virgo (within the Abell 2029 cluster), which is one of the largest known galaxies in the universe.
