Iñaki Berruet Arantzadi (born 23 April 1973) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a central defender. His career spanned nearly two decades, during which he competed in several tiers of the Spanish football league system, including La Liga.
Early Career and Deportivo Alavés Born in Irun, Gipuzkoa, Berruet began his senior career with his hometown club, Real Unión. In 1995, he moved to Deportivo Alavés, which was then competing in the Segunda División. He became a consistent starter for the side and was a member of the squad that achieved promotion to La Liga at the conclusion of the 1997–1998 season.
Villarreal and Later Career Following his success with Alavés, Berruet signed with Villarreal CF in 1998. He contributed to the club's efforts to establish itself in the top flight before moving to Córdoba CF in 2000. He later played for Lorca Deportiva CF during the mid-2000s.
In 2006, Berruet returned to Real Unión in the Segunda División B. He remained with the club for three seasons, helping them achieve promotion to the Segunda División in 2009. He retired from professional play following that achievement.
Post-Retirement After retiring as a player, Berruet transitioned into technical and coaching roles. He has served in various capacities for Real Unión, including positions as an assistant coach and as part of the club's sporting management team.
