Description
Hydroporus subpubescens is a small aquatic beetle belonging to the family Dytiscidae, commonly known as predaceous diving beetles. Like other members of its family, it is adapted for an underwater lifestyle, possessing streamlined, oval bodies, natatorial (swimming) hind legs fringed with setae, and air‑storing adaptations that allow it to respire while submerged. Specific morphological details distinguishing H. subpubescens from congeners are limited in publicly available sources; the species is currently treated as a taxonomic entity primarily through its original description and subsequent cataloguing.
Distribution and Habitat
The species is known from North America.
