Hunter Cattoor (born November 17, 2000) is an American professional basketball coach and former player. He currently serves as an assistant coach for the Virginia Tech Hokies men's basketball program. He previously played college basketball for Virginia Tech and professionally for the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League.
Early Life and High School
Cattoor grew up in Orlando, Florida, and attended Bishop Moore Catholic High School, where he played both basketball and quarterback on the football team. He suffered an ankle sprain during the last month of his senior season, ending his year. He initially committed to play college basketball at Wofford under coach Mike Young but followed Young to Virginia Tech when Young was hired as head coach of the Hokies.
College Career
Cattoor played for Virginia Tech from 2019 to 2024, utilizing the extra year of eligibility granted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He set the program record for games played with 152. As a freshman, he averaged 6.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 40.2% from three-point range. He was named the 2022 ACC Tournament MVP after scoring 31 points in the championship game, an 82–67 upset of Duke. Over his five-year college career, he appeared in two NCAA tournaments.
Professional Career
After going undrafted in the 2024 NBA draft, Cattoor signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers for NBA Summer League. He then played for BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque of the French LNB Pro A. In October 2025, he signed with the Brooklyn Nets but was waived the following day, subsequently joining the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League.
Coaching Career
On June 4, 2026, Cattoor returned to Virginia Tech as an assistant coach under Mike Young, retiring from playing.
Personal Life
Cattoor is the son of Rodney and Kathy Cattoor. His father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late 2022. In July 2024, Cattoor married Chloe Brooks, a former Virginia Tech basketball player and daughter of former Virginia Tech head coach Kenny Brooks. Cattoor earned his bachelor's degree in human development in 2022 and pursued a master's degree in education, liberal arts, and human sciences.
