Hoslovice

Hoslovice is a municipality and village in the Strakonice District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It is situated in the historical region of South Bohemia, approximately 16 kilometers (10 mi) southeast of Strakonice, 35 kilometers (22 mi) northwest of České Budějovice, and 98 kilometers (61 mi) south of Prague.

Geography The municipality is located in the hilly landscape of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. It is primarily an agricultural area with some forested patches.

History The first written mention of Hoslovice dates back to 1349. Historically, the area was part of various noble estates.

Notable Features One of the most significant features of Hoslovice is its preserved mediaeval water mill, which is a national cultural monument. The mill is an open-air museum providing insight into the traditional life and milling technology of the region. It is one of the oldest and best-preserved water mills in the Czech Republic, with its origins potentially dating back to the 13th century.
