Hope for Haiti Now was a global charity telethon held on January 22, 2010, to raise funds for humanitarian relief efforts following the catastrophic earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12, 2010. The event was organized by Haitian-born musician Wyclef Jean and American actor George Clooney, in collaboration with Anderson Cooper and various media organizations.
The telethon was broadcast from Los Angeles, New York City, and London, with Cooper providing reporting directly from Port-au-Prince, Haiti. It was distributed across all major American television networks—including ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and CNN—as well as numerous international channels and digital streaming platforms. The program featured musical performances by high-profile artists such as Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, and Stevie Wonder. In addition to performances, more than 100 public figures and celebrities appeared during the broadcast to answer telephone calls and solicit donations.
The funds raised through the event were allocated to several non-governmental organizations and relief agencies engaged in immediate and long-term recovery efforts in Haiti. Beneficiaries included the Red Cross, UNICEF, United Nations World Food Programme, Oxfam America, Partners In Health, and the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.
Following the broadcast, a live album titled Hope for Haiti Now was released digitally. The album made history by becoming the first digital-only release to reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Organizers reported that the telethon raised over $61 million in pledges within the first 24 hours, making it one of the most successful televised fundraising events for a single cause.
