Hoštice-Heroltice is a municipality and village in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It is administratively part of the Brno‑Country District. The municipality consists of two formerly separate villages, Hoštice and Heroltice, which were combined into a single administrative unit.
Geography
The settlement lies approximately 15 km southeast of Brno, the regional capital, and is situated in the southeastern part of the Czech Republic. It is accessible via the I/43 road (the Brno–Vizovice route) and is surrounded by agricultural land and modestly forested areas.
Demographics
According to the Czech Statistical Office, the population of Hoštice-Heroltice was about 1,300 inhabitants in 2023. The municipality follows the typical demographic trends of small rural communities in the region.
History
- The village of Hoštice was first mentioned in written records in the early 13th century.
- Heroltice appears in documentary sources from the 14th century.
The two settlements have historically been part of various noble estates and were incorporated into the modern administrative structure of Czechoslovakia after World I. The formal merger of Hoštice and Heroltice into a single municipality occurred during the administrative reforms of the mid‑20th century.

Hoštice-Heroltice is governed by a municipal council headed by a mayor (starosta). The municipality manages local affairs such as land use, community services, and maintenance of public infrastructure.
