Ho Man Tin Estate (Chinese: 何文田邨) is a large [[public housing estate]] in [[Ho Man Tin]], [[Kowloon City District]], [[Kowloon]], [[Hong Kong]]. It is managed by the [[Hong Kong Housing Authority]]. The current estate was primarily redeveloped in phases between 2015 and 2018, replacing an older estate built on the same site in 1971.
History
The original Ho Man Tin Estate was completed in 1971, consisting of multiple residential blocks. Over several decades, the estate served a significant population in the Ho Man Tin area.As part of a broader urban redevelopment initiative by the Hong Kong government, particularly to facilitate the construction of the [[MTR]]'s [[Sha Tin to Central Link]] and to modernize public housing facilities, the old Ho Man Tin Estate was demolished in phases starting in the early 2000s. The redevelopment aimed to provide improved living conditions, better facilities, and enhanced connectivity.
The construction of the current Ho Man Tin Estate commenced after the demolition of the old blocks. The new estate was built with modern architectural designs and amenities, with phased completion and resident intake occurring between 2015 and 2018.
Description
The redeveloped Ho Man Tin Estate comprises eight residential blocks, offering a mix of flat sizes suitable for various household needs. The estate is designed to be self-sufficient, incorporating commercial and community facilities.The residential blocks include:
- Yan Man House (欣文樓)
- Koon Man House (冠文樓)
- King Man House (景文樓)
- Choi Man House (采文樓)
- Yat Man House (逸文樓)
- Nga Man House (雅文樓)
- Ching Man House (靜文樓)
- Yin Man House (賢文樓)
In total, the estate provides approximately 6,648 rental units, housing an estimated population of over 17,500 residents.
