Mathilde "Hilde" Gerg (born October 19, 1975) is a German former alpine ski racer who competed at the international level from 1991 to 2005. A versatile athlete, she achieved significant success across multiple disciplines, including slalom, downhill, and Super-G.
Born in Lenggries, Bavaria, Gerg made her World Cup debut in 1991 at the age of 15. Her professional career was marked by high-level consistency, resulting in a total of 20 World Cup race victories and 59 podium finishes. She secured two season titles (Crystal Globes) in the Super-G discipline (1997 and 1999) and one in the combined discipline (1998).
Gerg's most notable achievement occurred at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, where she won the gold medal in the slalom and a bronze medal in the combined event. In addition to her Olympic success, she earned several medals at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. These include a gold medal in the team event (2005) and bronze medals in the Super-G (1997, 2001) and the combined (1997).
Her career was impacted by various injuries, and she officially announced her retirement from competitive skiing in November 2005 following an Achilles tendon injury that prevented her from competing in the 2006 Winter Olympics. Following her retirement, Gerg has been involved in sports commentary and television work within Germany.
