Hilda Ochoa-Brillembourg

Hilda Ochoa-Brillembourg is a Venezuelan-American business executive, economist, and philanthropist known for her work in asset management and international finance. She is the founder and chairman of Strategic Investment Group (SIG), an investment management firm established in 1987.

Ochoa-Brillembourg received her undergraduate degree in economics from the Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas, Venezuela. She later earned a Master of Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Before founding Strategic Investment Group, Ochoa-Brillembourg served as the Chief Investment Officer of the Pension Investment Division at the World Bank from 1976 to 1987. During her tenure, she was responsible for managing the pension fund’s global investment strategy. Under her leadership at Strategic Investment Group, the firm became a pioneer in the Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) model, providing fiduciary investment management for institutional investors.

In addition to her career in finance, Ochoa-Brillembourg has held several board positions at major corporations and non-profit organizations. She has served on the boards of directors for companies such as McGraw-Hill, Marriott International, and General Mills. Her involvement in public policy and international affairs includes memberships in the Council on Foreign Relations and the Atlantic Council.

Ochoa-Brillembourg is also recognized for her contributions to the arts and education. She is a co-founder and former chairman of the Orchestra of the Americas (formerly the Youth Orchestra of the Americas), an organization dedicated to supporting young musicians across the Western Hemisphere. She has authored various publications on investment strategy, including the book The 10 Principles of Strategic Investment.
