Highway 302 is a national highway in the greater Bangkok metropolitan area of Thailand. It is composed of two connecting roads: Rattanathibet Road and Ngam Wong Wan Road.
Route information
Highway 302 spans 17.808 kilometers (11.065 miles). Of this total, 15.12 kilometers lies within Nonthaburi Province, and 2.688 kilometers lies within Bangkok. The route was established in 1985 and remains in operation.
Western terminus and major junctions
The highway begins at its western end at Kanchanaphisek Road (Motorway Route 9) and Motorway Route 81 in the Sao Thong Hin subdistrict, Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi. Along its course, it intersects with several major roads, including Ratchaphruek Road, Tiwanon Road, the Si Rat Expressway, Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, and Phahonyothin Road. Its eastern end terminates at Phahonyothin Road in Chatuchak District, Bangkok. The route passes through Bang Bua Thong, Mueang Nonthaburi, and Lak Si.
Rattanathibet Road
Rattanathibet Road (Thai: ถนนรัตนาธิเบศร์) runs eastward from its starting point at Kanchanaphisek Road, passing through Bang Bua Thong District and Mueang Nonthaburi District. It crosses the Chao Phraya River via the Phra Nang Klao Bridge and the Phra Nang Klao Parallel Bridge. The road ends at the Khae Rai intersection, where it meets Tiwanon Road (Route 306) and continues as Ngam Wong Wan Road.
Ngam Wong Wan Road
Ngam Wong Wan Road (Thai: ถนนงามวงศ์วาน) continues eastward from the Khae Rai intersection in Nonthaburi, crossing into Bangkok at Lak Si District and passing through Chatuchak District before terminating at the Kaset intersection with Phahonyothin Road. A bypass tunnel beneath Kasetsart University allows the road to continue as Prasoet Manukit Road (Thailand Route 351).
The road is named after Damrong Ngamwongwan, a Department of Highways engineer who oversaw its construction. Under the policy of the Plaek Phibunsongkhram government, new roads were to be named for their chief engineers.
