Herman Obuhov

Herman Pavlovich Obuhov (Russian: Герман Павлович Обухов; born January 13, 1949) is a Russian (formerly Soviet) chess player who holds the title of International Master (IM).

Born in Moscow, Obuhov emerged as a prominent player in the Soviet chess scene during the 1970s. His most significant achievement was winning the prestigious Moscow City Chess Championship in 1974. This victory solidified his reputation and contributed to his eventual attainment of the International Master title.

Throughout his career, Obuhov participated in numerous Soviet championships and international tournaments, known for his solid positional style and tactical acumen. While he did not reach the very top tier of grandmasters, his consistent performance and the IM title mark him as a respected figure in Russian chess history. He remains active in the chess community, occasionally participating in senior or veteran events.
