Herbert Kneeshaw

Herbert Kneeshaw (born c. 1885, date of death unknown) was an English professional footballer who played as a forward, primarily an inside-right, in the early 20th century. He is notable for his extensive career across several Football League clubs, particularly in the First and Second Divisions.

Career

Kneeshaw began his professional career with [[Sheffield United]] in 1904, making his debut in the First Division. He spent four seasons with the Blades, featuring in 66 league matches and scoring 14 goals. In 1908, he moved to [[Huddersfield Town]], then in the Second Division, where he became a prolific goalscorer. During his time at Huddersfield, he made 108 league appearances, netting 42 goals, and was a key player for the club.

After his successful spell at Huddersfield, Kneeshaw moved to [[Grimsby Town]] in 1912, contributing 20 goals in 64 league matches over two seasons. His career was then interrupted by [[World War I]], during which official Football League competitions were suspended. Following the resumption of professional football, Kneeshaw joined [[Chesterfield]] in 1919, playing in the [[Midland League]] before their re-entry into the Football League. He later had a spell with [[Bradford (Park Avenue)]] before concluding his professional career.

Kneeshaw was known for his strong shooting ability and his tactical awareness as an inside forward. His career spanned nearly two decades, showcasing remarkable longevity in the physically demanding sport of the era.
