Helmut Türk (born 1 December 1955) is an Austrian diplomat who has served as Austria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations, and has held senior positions within the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Overview
Born in Vienna, Austria, Türk earned a doctorate in law (Dr. iur.) from the University of Vienna. He entered the Austrian diplomatic service in the early 1980s and has since undertaken a range of assignments both in Vienna and abroad. Türk has also been involved in the development of international law, serving as a member of the International Law Commission (ILC) of the United Nations, to which he was elected in 2019.
