Helen Dannetun (born 1957) is a Swedish professor of physics and former rector (vice-chancellor) of Linköping University.
Education and academic career
Dannetun received a Master of Science in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering from Linköping University in 1980, and a doctoral degree in applied physics from the same institution in 1987. Her doctoral dissertation focused on catalytic reactions on metal surfaces. She became a senior lecturer in 1994, an associate professor in 1996, and was appointed professor of physics at Linköping University in 2002.
Administrative and leadership roles
Dannetun served as Head of the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM) from 2000 to 2003, and as Dean of the Institute of Technology from 2004 to 2011. In June 2011, she was appointed rector (vice-chancellor) of Linköping University, a position she held until 30 June 2020.
National advisory roles
Dannetun has served as a leading technical advisor to the Swedish Ministry of Education. She was a member of the governing board of the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (2010–2011) and of the Swedish Technology Delegation (Teknikdelegationen) (2008–2010).
