Hein-Peter Weyher

Hein-Peter Weyher (born February 28, 1941) is a German politician, a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). He is best known for his long tenure as the Mayor (Bürgermeister) of the city of Pinneberg in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, a position he held for nearly two decades.

Early Life and Career

Born in 1941, Hein-Peter Weyher trained as a civil servant (Diplom-Verwaltungswirt). Prior to his political career, he worked for the district administration of Pinneberg (Kreisverwaltung Pinneberg).

Political Career

Weyher joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in 1969. His political engagement began at the local level.

  • City Council of Pinneberg: He became a member of the Pinneberg city council (Ratsversammlung) in 1974, where he served for many years before becoming mayor.
