Hassan Ahmed Bouhadi (Arabic: حسن بوهادي; born 1973) is a Libyan business executive who served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan Investment Authority (LIA), Libya's sovereign wealth fund, from October 2014 to June 2016. He was appointed to this position by the internationally recognized Libyan government and operated from offices in Malta.
Background and Education
Bouhadi was educated at University College London and the Imperial College of Science and Technology. Prior to his role with the LIA, he coordinated humanitarian activities with the international community as a member of the Libyan Stabilization Team under the National Transitional Council following the 2011 Libyan conflict.
Career
Before his appointment to the LIA, Bouhadi held several regional management positions in the United Kingdom, Middle East, and Africa for multinational companies, including Bechtel International, Fosroc (a BP company), BASF, and GE.
Libyan Investment Authority
Bouhadi served as a member of the LIA's Board of Directors and as Secretary of the Board of Trustees before becoming Chairman in October 2014. His tenure coincided with Libya's political fragmentation during the civil war, which divided state institutions, including the LIA, between competing factions. He resigned from the position in 2016.
Later Career
Following his tenure at the LIA, Bouhadi has worked in the private sector, including serving as General Manager for Mapei in the United Arab Emirates, where he has led business operations across the Middle East and Africa in the construction and building materials industries.
