Harry L. Towe

Harry L. Towe (1901 – 1979) was an American attorney and Republican politician who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from New Jersey. Born in Union City, New Jersey, Towe pursued a career in law after completing his education, gaining admission to the bar and establishing a practice in his home state.

In the early 1940s, Towe entered elective politics, winning election to the U.S. House of Representatives. He represented New Jersey’s 5th congressional district and served multiple terms in the 78th through 83rd Congresses (1943–1955). During his tenure, he participated in legislative activities typical of the period, including work on committees related to commerce and judiciary matters. Towe was known for his support of Republican platforms of the era, emphasizing fiscal conservatism and anti-communist policies.

After leaving Congress, Towe resumed his legal practice and remained active in local Republican affairs. He passed away in 1979, and his contributions are recorded in historical references to mid‑20th‑century New Jersey politics.
