Hannes Björninen (born 30 August 1995) is a Finnish professional ice hockey defenseman. He began his senior career in the Finnish Liiga, debuting with Oulun Kärpät, where he later contributed to multiple championship titles. Björninen was selected in the fifth round, 147th overall, by the St. Louis Blues in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, although he has not appeared in an NHL regular‑season game.
Following his time with Kärpät, he played for several other Finnish clubs, including TPS and the Lahti Pelicans. In 2022, Björninen signed with the Malmö Redhawks of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), continuing his career in Sweden's top professional league. Internationally, he has represented Finland at junior levels, participating in the World Junior Championships.
As of the latest available season, Björninen remains an active defenseman in the SHL, known for his size, defensive reliability, and occasional offensive contributions from the blue line.
