Hanamkonda

Hanamkonda is a city and municipal corporation in the Indian state of Telangana. It forms part of the Warangal Tri-City metropolitan area together with Warangal and Kazipet. Historically, Hanamkonda served as the capital of the Kakatiya dynasty (12th–14th centuries) and has since developed into an important urban, cultural, and educational hub in the region.


Geography

Hanamkonda is situated on the Deccan Plateau at an average elevation of approximately 300 m (984 ft) above sea level. The city lies on the banks of the Kakatiya Canal, a tributary of the Munneru River, and is positioned about 150 km northeast of Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana. Its coordinates are roughly 18.01° N latitude and 79.58° E longitude.

History
