HMS Redpole (U69)

HMS Redpole was a Royal Navy sloop of the Kingfisher class, bearing the pennant number U69. The vessel was ordered under the 1934 Naval Programme and constructed by William Denny and Brothers at Dumbarton, Scotland. She was launched on 26 March 1935 and commissioned into service in 1936.

During the Second World War, HMS Redpole operated primarily as an escort for merchant convoys in the North Atlantic and the Western Approaches. She was assigned to the Western Approaches Command and participated in anti‑submarine patrols and rescue operations. Throughout the conflict, the ship underwent several refits to improve her sonar and depth‑charge capabilities, in line with evolving anti‑submarine warfare requirements.

After the cessation of hostilities, HMS Redpole remained in service for a short period before being de‑commissioned. The ship was placed on the disposal list and sold for scrapping in 1948, after which she was broken up at the shipbreaking yard in Rosyth.
