HBO Hits is a name used for premium television channels operated by Home Box Office, Inc., a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery. The name currently applies to two distinct channels: one serving Southeast Asia and another serving the United States.
HBO Hits (Asia)
HBO Hits is a Southeast Asian multiplex channel owned by HBO Asia, headquartered in Singapore. It was launched on 16 March 2006 and features Hollywood blockbuster movies of various genres. The channel broadcasts in English and is available in 1080i HDTV. It is part of a suite of channels that includes Warner TV, Cinemax, HBO, HBO Signature, HBO Family, Cartoon Network, and CNN International, among others.
The channel maintains licensing deals with five major Hollywood film studios: Warner Bros. Discovery (including Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, HBO Films), Paramount/Skydance, NBCUniversal (Universal Pictures), Sony Pictures, and independent film distributors such as Lionsgate, Regency Enterprises, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and A24.
HBO Hits (United States)
In the United States, HBO Hits is a multiplex channel that was originally launched on August 1, 1991, as HBO2. It was rebranded as HBO Plus on October 1, 1998, reverted to HBO2 in September 2002, and was renamed HBO Hits on September 4, 2025, as part of a broader rebranding of HBO's linear channel lineup.
The channel offers a separate schedule of theatrical and original made-for-cable movies (including daytime airings of R-rated films), series, and specials, as well as same-week rebroadcasts of newer films and recent episodes of original series first aired on the primary HBO channel. It is available in both Eastern and Pacific Time Zone feeds.
The rebranding of HBO2 to HBO Hits in the U.S. was part of a larger change that also saw HBO3 become HBO Drama, HBO Zone become HBO Movies, and HBO Signature become HBO Drama, among other changes.
