Héctor Cúper

Héctor Cúper (born 4 June 1962) is an Argentine former professional footballer and football manager. He is best known for his coaching career, during which he led several clubs and national teams to notable achievements, including reaching the finals of the UEFA Champions League with Valencia CF in 2000 and the UEFA Cup (now Europa League) with RCD Mallorca in 2003.

He also earned a single cap for the Argentina national team in 1992.

Coaching career

Valencia CF (1998–2001)
Cúper began his managerial career with Valencia in 1998, guiding the team to back‑to‑back UEFA Champions League finals in 1999 and 2000, losing to Manchester United and Real Madrid, respectively. Under his leadership, Valencia also finished as runners‑up in La Liga in the 1999–2000 season.

RCD Mallorca (2001–2005)
Cúper took charge of Mallorca in 2001, leading the club to the 2003 UEFA Cup final, where they were defeated by Porto. During his tenure, Mallorca regularly qualified for European competition.

Inter Milan (2005–2006)
In 2005, Cúper was appointed manager of Inter Milan. His spell lasted one season, ending with a dismissal after the team finished fourth in Serie A and failed to secure UEFA Champions League qualification.
