Gymnastics at the 1992 Summer Olympics – Men's floor

The men’s floor exercise was one of the artistic gymnastics events contested at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. The competition took place at the Palau dels Esports de Barcelona and consisted of two stages: a qualification round and a final round.

Competition format

• Qualification round – Held on July 27 and 29, 1992. All entered gymnasts performed a compulsory routine and a voluntary routine. The scores from both routines were summed to determine each gymnast’s total qualification score. The top eight gymnasts advanced to the final, with a maximum of two athletes per National Olympic Committee (NOC) allowed in the final. Ties for the eighth place were resolved by the FIG tie‑breaking rules in effect at the time.

• Final round – Conducted on August 1, 1992. The eight finalists performed a single voluntary floor routine. Only the final routine’s score determined the final ranking; qualification scores did not carry over.

• Li Xiaoshuang’s silver marked China’s first Olympic medal in the men’s floor exercise.
• Andreas Wecker’s bronze was among the first Olympic gymnastics medals won for a unified Germany following reunification in 1990.
