Guy Burwell (born 1965) is an American illustrator and designer based in Portland, Oregon. He is primarily known for creating limited-edition silkscreen rock concert posters. His work is recognized both in the United States and in Europe, where it has been collected and exhibited.
Burwell's art has been featured in several definitive books on the genre, including Gig Posters Vol. 1: Rock Show Art of the 21st Century by Clay Hayes and Art of Modern Rock: The Poster Explosion by Paul Grushkin and Dennis King. He contributed cover art for Germany's Low Magazine (Vol. 6, June 2010) and was featured in Voice Magazine's 11th volume dedicated to Rock Art. He headlined the Röckaholics II Rock Art Show in Zurich, Switzerland, alongside other gig poster artists, for which he created the official show poster.
Burwell has also worked as a comic book artist, providing cover art for the comic Aliens: Music of the Spears for Dark Horse Comics. He began his commercial art career doing illustrations for local newspapers, murals in nightclubs, and posters for underground rock clubs while growing up in St. Louis, Missouri. His clients have included Thrasher Presents, Laika Studios, My Morning Jacket, and Nickelodeon. His artistic style is characterized by intricate line work, dynamic compositions, character creation, and visual puns, and has been associated with movements such as gig posters, lowbrow art, and punk rock aesthetics.
