Gunnar Halle (born 11 August 1965) is a Norwegian former professional footballer who played as a right-back, and a current football coach. He is best known for his playing spells with Norwegian club Lillestrøm SK and English clubs Oldham Athletic, Leeds United, and Bradford City, as well as for his international career with the Norway national team.
Halle began his professional career with Lillestrøm SK in Norway, where he established himself as a prominent defender. In 1991, he moved to England to join Oldham Athletic, then in the First Division. He became a key player for Oldham, helping them to gain promotion to the newly formed Premier League for its inaugural 1992–93 season. His consistent performances earned him a reputation as a reliable and hard-working right-back.
In 1996, Halle transferred to Leeds United, where he spent two seasons, contributing to their Premier League campaigns. Following his time at Leeds, he moved to Bradford City in 1999, playing an important role in their survival in the Premier League during the 1999–2000 season. He later had a brief spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers before returning to Norway to play for Aalesunds FK, where he eventually retired from playing.
Internationally, Halle was a significant part of the Norway national team during one of its most successful periods. He earned 64 caps for Norway between 1987 and 1999, scoring five goals. He represented his country at two FIFA World Cups, in 1994 in the United States and in 1998 in France, playing in all three of Norway's group stage matches at both tournaments.
After retiring as a player, Halle transitioned into coaching. He has held various coaching roles, including assistant manager positions at Lillestrøm SK and Strømsgodset, as well as youth coaching roles. His career reflects a deep and enduring involvement in football, both on the field and from the dugout.
