Gunica

Definition
Gunica is a small river in north‑western Poland, functioning as a left‑bank tributary of the Oder River near the town of Police.

Overview
The Gunica originates in the vicinity of the village of Łęgi, within the Gmina Dobra (Szczecińska) in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It traverses the Wkrzańska Plain, flowing eastward through a series of settlements and natural areas—including the villages of Stolec, the Świdwie lake and its protected reserve, Węgornik, Tanowo, Witorza, and Tatynia—before reaching the urban district of Police‑Jasienica. Approximately three kilometres downstream of Tatynia, the river forms part of the boundary between the city of Police and the village of Wieńkowo. Its confluence with the Oder occurs near Police, close to the Roztoka Odrzańska branch. The river’s length is about 48 km (30 mi) and its drainage basin covers roughly 240 km² (93 mi²). The lower reaches lie within the Ujście Odry area and the Szczecin Lagoon, both designated as Natura 2000 sites, reflecting the river’s ecological significance.
