Guilbaut Colas

Guilbaut Colas (born 18 June 1983 in Échirolles, Isère) is a retired French freestyle skier who specialized in moguls and dual moguls. He is widely recognized for his success on the international circuit, including a World Championship title and an overall World Cup moguls globe.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Colas began skiing at a young age and developed a passion for freestyle skiing. His talent for navigating mogul courses quickly became apparent, leading him to pursue a competitive career in the sport.

Competitive Career

Colas made his debut on the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup circuit in 2001. He steadily rose through the ranks, becoming a consistent contender for podium finishes.

World Cup Success

Colas achieved his first World Cup podium in 2005. His most successful season came in 2010-2011, when he won the overall World Cup title in moguls, demonstrating his dominance throughout the season. Over his career, he accumulated numerous World Cup victories and podiums.

World Championships

He achieved significant success at the FIS Freestyle World Championships. In 2011, at the championships held in Deer Valley, USA, Colas won the gold medal in the dual moguls event, solidifying his status as a world champion. He also earned a bronze medal in the moguls event at the 2007 World Championships in Madonna di Campiglio.

Olympic Games

Colas represented France at multiple Winter Olympic Games. He competed in the moguls event at the 2006 Turin Olympics, the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, and the 2014 Sochi Olympics. His best Olympic performance was a fourth-place finish at the 2010 Vancouver Games, narrowly missing a medal.

Retirement

Guilbaut Colas announced his retirement from competitive skiing following the 2014 Winter Olympics.
