Grossmont College

Grossmont College is a public community college located in the eastern suburbs of San Diego, California, United States. It is one of the two colleges that comprise the Grossmont–Cuyamaca Community College District, the other being Cuyamaca College.

History

The college was established in 1961 and officially opened its doors to students in September 1962. Its founding was part of a broader expansion of community college education in California during the post‑World War II era, aiming to provide accessible higher education and vocational training to the rapidly growing population of the San Diego metropolitan area.

Campus

The main campus occupies approximately 112 acres in the community of La Mesa, adjacent to the city of El Cajon. The campus includes academic buildings, a library, a student center, athletic facilities, and specialized laboratories. In addition to the primary site, Grossmont College operates several off‑campus locations and offers distance‑learning courses.

Academics

Grossmont College offers a wide range of associate degree programs, including Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees.
