Gromov (Russian: Громов) is a rural locality (a khutor) in Pologozaymishchensky Selsoviet of Akhtubinsky District, Astrakhan Oblast, Russia.
Geography
Gromov is located on the bank of the Zaton River in the basin of the Akhtuba River. It lies approximately 47 km (29 mi) northwest of Akhtubinsk, the administrative centre of the district, by road. The nearest rural locality is Klochkov. The distance to the city of Astrakhan is about 278 km.
Climate
The climate is sharply continental, with hot and dry summers and snowless, windy winters that can sometimes bring severe cold. According to the Köppen–Geiger climate classification, the climate type is semi-arid (BSk index).
Population
As of the 2010 Russian census, the population of Gromov was 23. In 2002, the population was recorded as 14. The majority of the population are Kumyks, a Turkic ethnic group native to the North Caucasus region.
