The Great Southern Herald is a weekly regional newspaper based in Katanning, Western Australia. Established in 1901, it serves the Great Southern region, providing local news, sports, and community information to residents in Katanning and surrounding shires, including Kojonup, Gnowangerup, Woodanilling, and Broomehill-Tambellup.
The newspaper was first published on October 5, 1901, by I.W. Synnott. Over its history, it has served as a primary record of the social and economic development of the inland Great Southern districts, particularly focusing on the agricultural industry, which is the cornerstone of the local economy.
The Great Southern Herald is currently owned by Seven West Media, through its subsidiary West Australian Regional Newspapers.
