Gråkjær Arena

Gråkjær Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Holstebro, Denmark. Primarily known as a venue for handball, it also hosts a variety of other sports, concerts, and cultural events.

History The arena was originally opened in 2010 as part of the Holstebro Idrætscenter (Holstebro Sports Centre) complex. Over the years, it has undergone several name changes due to sponsorship agreements. It was previously known as Vestjysk Bank Arena. The current name, Gråkjær Arena, was adopted through a sponsorship deal with the Danish construction company Gråkjær A/S.

Facilities and Capacity The arena is designed to accommodate various types of events. For handball and other sporting events, it has a seating capacity of approximately 3,250 spectators. For concerts and other cultural events, the capacity can be expanded to around 4,000 people, utilizing both seating and standing areas. The facility includes modern amenities for athletes, performers, and spectators, such as changing rooms, VIP areas, and concession stands.

Tenant Teams Gråkjær Arena is the home ground for several prominent handball clubs from Holstebro. These include:

  • Team Tvis Holstebro (TTH Holstebro): A men's professional handball team that competes in the Danish Handball League (Herreligaen).
  • HH Holstebro (Holstebro Håndbold): A women's professional handball team that competes in the Danish Women's Handball League (Damehåndboldligaen).

Events Beyond regular league handball matches, Gråkjær Arena has hosted numerous national and international sports competitions, including matches in European handball tournaments. It also serves as a significant venue for concerts by both Danish and international artists, as well as various trade fairs, conferences, and other community events for the Holstebro region.
