Goran Rakočević

Goran Rakočević (Serbian Cyrillic: Горан Ракочевић; born December 15, 1970) is a Montenegrin former professional basketball player. Standing at 1.96 m (6 ft 5 in), he primarily played the shooting guard and small forward positions.

Playing Career

Rakočević began his professional career in the early 1990s in Yugoslavia. He spent significant parts of his career playing for prominent clubs in Serbia and Montenegro.

Club Career

  • Budućnost Podgorica: Rakočević had multiple stints with his hometown club, KK Budućnost Podgorica, one of the most successful Montenegrin teams. He achieved significant success with them, including winning the Yugoslav Cup in 1996. During his later years, he also contributed to Budućnost's dominance in the newly formed Montenegrin league after Montenegro's independence, winning the Montenegrin League and Montenegrin Cup in 2007.
  • Crvena zvezda (Red Star Belgrade): He also played for KK Crvena zvezda, one of Serbia's biggest clubs, where he was a key player during his tenure.
  • Partizan Belgrade: Rakočević also briefly played for KK Partizan, another Serbian basketball giant.
  • Other Clubs: Throughout his career, Rakočević also played for several other clubs in the region, including Beopetrol, Hemofarm Vršac, Atlas, and Lovćen Cetinje.

National Team Career

Goran Rakočević represented the Montenegro national basketball team. He was part of the squad that competed in international competitions following Montenegro's independence.
