Gmina Zielona Góra

A Gmina Zielona Góra is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Zielona Góra County, Lubusz Voivodeship, in western Poland. Geography

History

The gmina's history is closely tied to that of the city of Zielona Góra. Following the administrative reforms in Poland, the current Gmina Zielona Góra was established. Notably, in 2015, parts of the rural gmina were incorporated into the city of Zielona Góra, significantly expanding the city's area and creating Poland's largest city by area at the time. Despite this incorporation, a distinct rural gmina of Zielona Góra still exists, encompassing the villages surrounding the expanded city boundaries.

Demographics

As of the 2020 census, the gmina had a total population of approximately 19,000 residents. The population density is relatively low compared to urban areas, reflecting its rural character. The trend in recent years has shown a steady increase in population, partly due to the migration of people from the urban center seeking a quieter lifestyle in the surrounding villages.
