Glen Echo, Colorado

Glen Echo is a historic resort area and former unincorporated community located in [[Boulder County]], [[Colorado]], United States. Situated in the [[Rocky Mountains]] along the [[North Saint Vrain Creek]], approximately six miles east of the town of [[Allenspark]], it was once a popular mountain retreat, particularly for residents of [[Denver]] and other Front Range communities.

The Glen Echo Resort was established in the early 20th century, with its peak period generally regarded as spanning from the 1910s through the mid-20th century. It featured a main lodge, numerous private cabins, and various amenities designed to attract tourists seeking recreation in the high country, including fishing, hiking, and appreciation of the scenic mountain environment. Its strategic location offered relatively convenient access to the nascent [[Rocky Mountain National Park]] region.

Over the latter half of the 20th century, changing travel patterns, improved infrastructure leading to more remote areas, and the decline of small, independent resorts contributed to a decrease in its commercial viability and popularity. Today, Glen Echo is largely considered a historical locale or, by some, a "ghost resort." While some private cabins and remnants of the original resort structures may still exist on privately owned land, much of its original public infrastructure has either deteriorated, been removed, or converted to private residences. It is not an active municipality or a census-designated place in modern terms.

The area surrounding Glen Echo remains characterized by its rugged mountainous terrain, dense pine forests, and the continuous flow of the North Saint Vrain Creek, which is a tributary of the larger [[Saint Vrain River]].
