The album is an instrumental hip hop record with a total length of 60:34. It features five tracks, most of which have runtimes exceeding 10 minutes — a concept derived from a 13-minute song the duo created in 2012. The album was almost entirely produced using the ACID Pro 2.0 software.

Glaciers Melted

A chopped and screwed version of the album, titled Glaciers Melted, was released in 2014. This digital edition includes remixed versions of all five original tracks plus two additional tracks ("V.I" and "V.I (Melted)" featuring Terra Lopez), with a total length of 85:40.

Critical Reception

Michael Scala of Prefix called it Blue Sky Black Death's "most grandiose, cumulative opus." Michael Berry of Seattle Weekly commented: "While it sustains multiple listens, it's unclear whether the layers of Glaciers will endure or recede, like its icy namesake, over the years." In October 2013, Spin included it on the "15 Albums You Can Hear Now" list.

Note on Other Releases

"Glaciers" is also the name of a self-titled EP by the band Glaciers (released June 6, 2006), and an album titled Ivory by Glaciers was released on Spotify in 2024. However, the most widely documented encyclopedic entry is the 2013 Blue Sky Black Death album described above.
