Ghislaine Barnay (born 8 October 1945 in Fort-de-France, Martinique) is a former French athlete who specialised in the women's high jump. She competed at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City.
Biography
Barnay was born on 8 October 1945 in Fort-de-France, the capital of the French overseas department of Martinique. She stood 1.76 m (5 ft 9 in) tall.
She won three French National Outdoor Athletic Championships titles in the high jump, in 1967, 1968, and 1969. Over the course of her career, she bettered the French high jump record four times, jumping successively 1.73 m, 1.74 m, and 1.76 m in 1968, and then 1.80 m in 1969.
At the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, Barnay placed ninth in the women's high jump final with a jump of 1.71 m.
Her personal best in the high jump was 1.80 m, set in 1969.
Personal life
She married French sprinter Roger Bambuck in 1974.
