David Lee Crow (born October 23, 1989), better known by his stage names Ghastly and GHENGAR, is an American DJ, record producer, and musician based in Los Angeles, California, and originally from Avondale, Arizona. He is known for a heavy blend of electronic dance music genres including bass house, dubstep, and trap.
Early Life
Crow was raised on a goat and dairy farm in Buckeye, Arizona. After relocating to Los Angeles, he experienced a period of homelessness, living in a van and later on skid row before returning to Arizona to save money. He returned to Los Angeles and eventually became a resident DJ at Exchange LA. Prior to his electronic music career, he was one of two vocalists in the deathcore band The Irish Front.
Career
Crow's first song, "Funky Flex" (2012), was released on an Owsla compilation album. After a period of setbacks, he met DJ Mija at a rave, and together they wrote the song "Crank It" (featuring Lil Jon). Mija sent the track to Skrillex, founder of OWSLA, who invited the pair to Burning Man and subsequently signed Ghastly to the label.
Ghastly has released songs on Owsla, Buygore, Dim Mak, Mad Decent, and Kannibalen Records. Notable singles include "Miami Connection" (with Jauz), "Crank It" (with Mija and Lil Jon), "666!" (with Getter), and "End of the Night" (with NGHTMRE). He released his debut studio album, The Mystifying Oracle, on May 4, 2018, followed by Haunted Haus on April 15, 2022. His debut EP, The OG, was released on June 16, 2021, via Kannibalen Records.
