Getting It Right (film)

Getting It Right is a 1989 romantic comedy film directed by Randal Kleiser and starring Jesse Birdsall, Helena Bonham Carter, and Shirley Anne Field. The film follows Gavin Lamb, a thirty-year-old hairdresser in London, who is socially awkward and inexperienced with women. His life takes a turn when he encounters two different women: Joan, a sophisticated older woman, and Minerva, a younger, more unconventional artist. The film explores themes of social awkwardness, coming-of-age, and finding love. The soundtrack features a collection of pop songs from the era. While not a major box office success, Getting It Right is remembered for its portrayal of British life and its performances, particularly that of Birdsall as the hapless Gavin.
