Get Back (film)

Get Back is a 2021 documentary film directed by Peter Jackson. It covers the making of the Beatles' 1970 album Let It Be and was created from almost 60 hours of previously unreleased video footage and over 150 hours of audio recordings captured during the sessions in January 1969. The film offers a more intimate and nuanced portrayal of the band's creative process and interpersonal dynamics than the original Let It Be film directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg.

The documentary series is presented in three parts, each approximately two to three hours long. It follows the Beatles as they rehearse and record songs at Twickenham Film Studios and later at their Apple Corps headquarters. Key events depicted include the band's struggles with deadlines, internal tensions, and creative differences, as well as moments of camaraderie, humor, and musical inspiration. The film culminates with the Beatles' iconic rooftop concert, their last public performance.

Get Back was released on Disney+ in November 2021 to widespread critical acclaim. Reviewers praised the film's immersive quality, its detailed depiction of the Beatles' creative process, and its revisionist portrayal of the Let It Be era. The film has been credited with reshaping public perception of the band's final period, portraying it as more collaborative and less acrimonious than previously understood.
