Gerónimo Barbadillo (born 9 May 1954) is a Peruvian former professional footballer who played as a right winger. He is noted for his pace, dribbling ability, and contributions to both club and national teams during the 1970s and 1980s.
Early life
Barbadillo was born in the district of San Martín de Porres, Lima, Peru. He began playing football at a young age in local youth academies before joining the senior ranks of Club Alianza Lima.
Club career

Alianza Lima (1972–1976)
Barbadillo made his professional debut with Alianza Lima, one of Peru’s most prominent clubs. During his tenure, he helped the team secure the Peruvian Primera División titles in 1975 and 1977. -
Cádiz CF (1976–1981)
In 1976, Barbadillo transferred to Cádiz CF in Spain’s Segunda División. He was instrumental in Cádiz’s promotion to La Liga for the 1977–78 season, scoring 19 league goals across his five-year spell and establishing himself as a fan favorite. -
Deportivo Málaga (1981–1982)
After his time at Cádiz, Barbadillo spent a season with Málaga CF, where he continued to feature regularly in the Spanish top flight. -
Return to Alianza Lima (1983–1984)
Barbadillo returned to his home club for a brief period before retiring from professional football in 1985.
International career
Barbadillo earned 37 caps for the Peru national team between 1973 and 1982, scoring six goals. He was part of the squad that competed in the 1978 FIFA World Cup in Argentina, where Peru reached the second group stage. He also participated in the 1975 Copa América, which Peru won.
Style of play
A right-sided winger, Barbadillo was recognized for his speed, technical dribbling, and ability to deliver precise crosses. His attacking contributions combined with a strong work ethic made him an effective wide midfielder in both defensive and offensive phases.
Post‑retirement
